  • Millions of Americans experience mental illness or substance use disorder, yet the individuals who experience these conditions too often feel isolated and alone.

September was National Recovery Month. The theme for this 32nd annual observance was “Recovery is for Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community.” This is a time to offer support and acceptance, a time to celebrate the gains made by those in recovery.

In his proclamation of September as Recovery Month in Minnesota, Governor Tim Walz noted the importance of dispelling myths and reducing stigma surrounding addictions and mental illness. Ensuring timely treatment and support is a priority for the state, Walz wrote.
